"Calculus"

The first few months of math seemed to be easy as pi
November however leaves you feeling about to die.
When we understood calculus' 'simpler' things
We left the classroom feeling like kings.
Now that we have added on to the problem
There seems to be no simple way to solve 'em.
Moving from the explict differentiation and finding the derivative of only X
To the implicit differentiation where there are X and Y and dy/dx leaves you wondering what's next.
Worse then just that, which was quite enough to contend with,
Is finding the first derivative and not being able to end with it.
Second derivatives, when only explicit,
Can be seen as reasonable. When it becomes implicit it is closer to illicit.
Surely with this difficulty it isn't unheard of,
That Calculus doesn't fit everyone like a glove.
But with much practice I have seem to have gotten better,
And when we practice with a partner we can work it out together.
Time will tell if I have it mastered,
Once the test has been administered.
Though since the tests are always hard,
I am not sure if an A is in my cards.
Math is not a subject I have especially enjoyed,
And i see no real world way for calculus to be employed.
That is why I am sure when I have to split,
I am unlikely to miss it!

"Bow Down and Obey"

Every October
New Milford has spirit week
And students compete
There is dress up days
Decorating the hallways
And even relays
There’s also the cheer
All students hold this week dear
There is never fear
That it is too much
So we go all out and such
And it is a rush
We had never won
Next year we’d be gone
We needed this one
So we set our pace
Then won the relay race
And came in first place
Nothing more to say
Then for underclassmen to…
Bow Down and Obey

“No More Green Paint”

One day senior year is like no other
The day we mark the field house with our name
And of course we can paint one another
Green paint flies and it’s anything but tame
We rush from the doors as fast as we can
Wanting to be the first one to get there
To get a good spot you need a game plan
The people in front of me stop to stare
When I see what’s waiting I nearly faint
It is nothing short of a tragedy
What I see is there is no more green paint
The point is to paint so how can that be?
Now we have to find a way to get more
We had to go and borrow some from a friend
Then we found a spot closer to the floor
And that is where our names went in the end.
